The Galveston County Emergency Communication District serves Galveston County including the cities of Bayou Vista, Clear Lake Shores, Dickinson, Galveston, Hitchcock, Jamaica Beach, Kemah, La Marque, Santa Fe, Texas City and Tiki Island, however we do not serve Friendswood and League City.

CLEC stands for Competitive Local Exchange Carrier and refers to communication providers doing business in the jurisdiction of the District.  VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol.  Each CLEC conducting business in Galveston County must have either a Resale Service Agreement Contract or Facility-based Contract on file with the District prior to signing its first subscriber.  Each VoIP provider conducting business in Galveston County must have a Voip Information Form on file with the District.  This insures a line of communication is established between GCECD and the CLEC or VoIP provider so each new subscriber can be properly added to the 9-1-1 database and associated service fees are properly remitted.
